You turn the knob the stove-top and not a thing gets hot. Knowing some basic issues for an electric stove that you could take care of by hand could save you significant time and money.
Be sure there is Electricity for Your Range
An electric oven will not function if it does not have juice. The conspicuous inquiry that that a person should consider is whether your electric oven is in fact plugged in to a live plug-in. If it is, check your breaker (or fuse) is set. In all probability you tripped a breaker. If all is well to this point, confirm the current of the plug utilizing a current checking device like a voltage tester. If you don’t have one of these available, trying a portable lamp or something into the outlet could at least let you know if the power is flowing.
Verify the Heating Elements
Check that your range is not plugged in. Examine the heating coil of the spot that is not working. If the heating element is damaged, order a new one and change the damaged one with the new one. If the heating element looks OK, put it into a functioning burner and switch the stove on. If the heating element doesn’t heat, get a replacement and replace the damaged one with the replacement.
During the time you are working about in your range, over again with the power off, examine the plug-in terminals. If you examine any corrosion, remove it using fine sandpaper or other fine abrasive material. Don’t use steel wool, as very small bits can get caught in the terminals and create an electrical short when turning the electricity on.
If the heating coil operated in the active position, you have a different problem. Unplug the oven again. Follow the heating coil burner receptacles wires to their active spot terminals. Test the wires using a multimeter set to RX1. If the holder fails, you will need to take out the receptacle and join a replacement receptacle in.
Extension Cords
Avoid using extension cords with your oven.
Most Importantly Be Careful
Electricity can be extremely dangerous, especially for one who does not have a lot of past history with electrical repairs. If you have any reservations about fixing your stove without help, ask someone who has more training to come over and walk you with the repair.
If all else fails, then its time to call in a pro.
